Maharashtra polls: Home voting for senior citizens in Mahim by EC - Watch video

In the upcoming 2024 Maharashtra Assembly polls that is scheduled to happen on 20th November, senior citizens from the Mahim constituency participated in the electoral process using the "home-voting" facility. This initiative, designed to accommodate elderly or disabled voters who may have difficulty traveling to polling booths, allows them to cast their votes from the comfort of their homes. The "home-voting" facility is part of an effort to ensure greater accessibility and inclusivity in the electoral process. Senior citizens, particularly those with mobility challenges or other health-related issues, often face difficulties in reaching polling stations. To address this, election authorities have made provisions for them to be able to vote without leaving their homes, with election officials visiting their residences to facilitate the process. This facility is part of Maharashtra's commitment to improving voter participation and ensuring that all eligible citizens, regardless of their physical limitations, can exercise their democratic rights.
