External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar on April 04 said that one of the biggest achievement of Modi-Government is that it has carried out rescue operations abroad numerous times. “Many Indians live outside India… they travel outside India, they study outside India… In few years we had big challenges… There was a war in Ukraine…War between Israel and Gaza… there is civil war in Sudan… We have had many times to do rescue operations… One of the Modi-Government is that we tell every Indian to feel safe when outside because we are there for you,” said EAM S Jaishankar.

PM Modi on 27th February, met German singer Cassandra Mae Spittsman and her mother in Tamil Nadu's Palladam. The German singer is known for singing songs, especially devotional ones in several Indian languages. While meeting PM Modi on Tuesday, she sang Achyutam Keshavam and a Tamil song as well. Previously, in one of his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ episodes, PM Modi had appreciated the singer’s passion for Indian music and culture. S. Jaishankar attended the Munich Security Conference from 16-18 February in Germany. During his visit, the external affairs minister defended India's long term standing ties with Russia. In an interview with  a leading German economic daily, Handelsbatt EAM highlighted. He said that Russia has never violated our interests. He said the many Western countries used to supply arms to Pakistan and not India..adding that the trend has changed in the past decade. Notably during a panel discussion in multilateralism at MSC.EAM reaffirmed India's stand to buy Russian oil despite sanctions.

Houthi Rebels: EAM Jaishankar highlights tensions in Red Sea caused by Houthis

Tensions simmer in Red Sea as Yemen-backed Houthis continue to attack commercial ships, affecting international trade. On January 10, Houthi rebels launched 18 drones over southern Red Sea, according to the US military’s Central Command, reported Al Jazeera. The Houthi rebels, who are an Iran-aligned group, started the strikes in retaliation for Israel’s Gaza conflict. Meanwhile, EAM Dr S Jaishankar on Jan 13 highlighted the ongoing challenges in Red Sea region. The External Affairs Minister raised concern over continuous missiles firing, causing damage to ships by Houthi rebels. Also, US carried out fresh strikes against Houthi targets in Yemen amid escalating tensions in Red Sea, CNN reported. These strikes followed a coordinated attack on approximately 30 Houthi locations the day before. Earlier, US Secy Antony Blinken held a telephonic conversation with EAM Jaishankar on January 11. Both leaders discussed recent attacks on merchant ships by Houthis in the Red Sea, informed State Dept spox Matthew Miller.
