Eid 2024: Devotees in bright attire gather at Jama Masjid to offer Prayers on Ei

As Ramadan comes to an end, Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations kick in across the country. Muslims across the country gathered at religious places to offer Eid prayers. An air of festivity and celebration was palpable at Delhi’s iconic Jama Masjid on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. Devotees filled the Jama Masjid in bright attires on April 11 to offer prayers on Eid. In Mumbai, devotees gathered at Mahim Masjid to offer ‘namaz’ on Eid-ul-Fitr. Devotees in MP’s Bhopal offered Eid prayers at Eidgah with family and friends. Eidgah in Assam’s Guwahati witnessed a large number of devotees on the occasion of revered Eid. Eid ul-Fitr is celebrated on the first day of Shawwal, the 10th month of the Islamic lunar calendar. The festival is of great significance due to the moon sighting which has been part of Islamic culture for a long time. It is believed that Prophet Muhammad used to wait for news of sightings of the crescent moon as it indicated the beginning of a new month.

The Hindu side lawyer Vishnu Jain has claimed that attempts are being made to stop Puja despite the Court’s order. Advocate Jain has said that there are continuous attempts made by the members of the Muslim community, who are going to offer ‘namaz’, to ‘demolish’ the cellar. Vishnu Shankar Jain said, “There is a very important thing that has developed in Gyanvapi after the order passed by the district judge of Varanasi on January 31, 2024. After that order, it has so happened that there are continuous attempts made by the members of the Muslim community who are going to offer 'namaz' there every day. They are coming in large numbers over the set cellar so that the roof can be demolished and in turn, the 'pooja' can be stopped.

Gyanvapi Case: Court allows Hindus to pray at sealed basement of mosque

In a big win for the Hindu side in the Gyanvapi case, the Varanasi district court allowed to offer prayers inside the sealed basement of Gyanvapi Mosque. The court ordered that the barricades in the basement have to be removed in seven days and puja is allowed in ‘Vyas ka Taykhana’. The mosque is located next to the Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi and Hindu litigants in the district court had sought the survey to determine whether a temple existed at the same spot earlier which was proved in the recent survey. The survey of the Gyanvapi mosque premises began after the Allahabad High Court rejected the petition filed by Muslim litigants seeking a stay on the Varanasi court's order for a scientific survey by the ASI. Gyanvapi Row: 'Out of court settlement not possible', says Hindu side advocate

Gyanvapi Row: 'Out of court settlement not possible', says Hindu side advocate

Representing the Hindu side in the Gyanvapi case, Advocate Vishnu Shankar Jain stated on Thursday that an out-of-court settlement in the Gyanvapi Mosque issue is not legally possible under the CPC. This statement was made after Jitendra Singh Bisen, the international president of the Vishwa Vedic Sanatan Sangh, wrote a letter to Anjuman Intejamia proposing an out-of-court settlement in the Gyanvapi case. "It has no legal value. Order 23 of the CPC clearly states that until all parties agree, no compromise can be made. And in matters related to the country and society, where a representative suit is filed involving the entire society, even if one person or party wants to settle alone, they cannot. So this initiative for an out-of-court settlement is not possible under the CPC, as it is not legally possible,” he said.
