Election Results 2023: “Congress didn’t talk about minorities…”-Ghulam Nabi Azad

Talking about the election results 2023 in four states (Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Telangana), Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) President Ghulam Nabi Azad on December 03 said that in the last 20-25 days, Congress which was considered as the champion of minorities did not even talk about them. As per the latest trends of the Election Commission of India, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is moving towards a comfortable win in Rajasthan. The party is leading on 114 of 199 seats in Rajasthan. BJP won with a full majority in the MP election results. In Chhatisgarh, Congress was firmly in the lead in the beginning, but BJP soon overtook its rival.

Delhi Floods: Three minors drown while swimming in flood water

The soaring water level of River Yamuna continues to wreak havoc in parts of Delhi. On July 14, several areas of the National Capital were inundated, disrupting normal life in a fast-moving city. Owing to the floods in Delhi, 3 minors drowned to death while swimming in flooded waters in Delhi’s Mukundpur on July 14. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was quick to react to the mishap and called the incident ‘unfortunate’. Meanwhile, a total of 23,692 people were evacuated from the adjacent areas of the Yamuna River in Delhi. The water level of the Yamuna River in Delhi decreased to 208.63 meters proving hope for people living in Delhi.

Himanta Biswa Sarma’s ‘Hussain Obama’ tweet sparks row

Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s comment on Barack Obama’s statement on minority rights in India stirred a controversy. In a tweet, he said there are many "Hussain Obamas" in the country and the state police will act according to its priorities. The Opposition was quick to hit back at the Assam chief minister. Sarma’s tweet was in response to a journalist’s tweet who posed a question asking if any FIR has been lodged against Obama for hurting religious sentiments. Congress spokesperson and social media head Supriya Shrinate was quick to attack Sarma on his tweet. Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi also reacted to Sarma's tweet. Meanwhile, Nirmala Sitharaman had attacked Obama too, stating that the US had bombed several countries with Muslim majority population and former Commisioner of US Religious Freedom Body said that we should spend more energy on complimenting India than criticizing.

Nirmala Sitharaman slams Barack Obama's minority remark

 Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on June 25 hit back at former US President Barack Obama. In an interview with CNN, Barack Obama said that India must protect its minorities, or it would ‘pull apart’. “If I had a conversation with PM Modi who I know well, part of my argument would be that if you do not protect the rights of ethnic minorities in India, then there is a strong possibility that India at some point starts pulling apart. We have seen what happens when you start getting those kind of large internal conflicts,” Former US President Barack Obama had said in an interview with CNN. To his comments, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman retaliated and gave a scathing reply.
