Mumbai rains have wrecked havoc in the city once again. On September 25, Mumbai experienced torrential rains, leading to significant waterlogging and severe traffic disruptions across various parts of the city. Areas such as Kurla East, Nehru Nagar, and Chembur were particularly affected, with the Kurla bridge facing heavy congestion. Additionally, a landslide occurred at the Mumbra bypass around 11:30 PM, further complicating traffic movement for over three hours. The situation prompted BMC Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani to assess the impact of the rainfall. In response to the severe weather conditions, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert for Mumbai, warning residents of continued heavy rainfall until September 26, 8:30 AM. The combination of intense rainfall and infrastructure challenges highlighted the city’s vulnerability to adverse weather conditions, necessitating urgent attention to drainage and disaster preparedness measures.
