The Chief Public Relation Officers (CPRO) of Western Railway, Ravinder Bhakar, on Wednesday said that after the enquiry it has been established that the stampede, which took place at Mumbai's Elphinstone railway station's foot-over bridge, occurred due to false rumours of a bridge collapse.
Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray led a protest march in south Mumbai on Thursday against the recent railway station stampede and bullet train project at metro cinema area. The MNS was demanding better railway infrastructure for commuters following the stampede that killed nearly 23 people on September 29. The Mumbai Police had denied permission for the MNS protest rally, but still the march was carried out. Thousands of MNS workers holding flags took to streets and raised slogans against the government.

The Jharkhand Government on Monday suspended Deoghar's Deputy Commissioner, Superintendent of Police, Civil Surgeon and Regional Deputy Director in the light of the temple stampede where at least 11 people were killed and 20 others injured.
