A chlorine gas leak at a water treatment plant in Nagpur triggered panic after gas reportedly spread towards nearby residential areas. Around 40 people were hospitalised after reporting coughing and breathing difficulties. The leak reportedly originated from a 900-kg chlorine cylinder at the Godhani water treatment plant. Police evacuated residents within a 200-metre radius, while fire teams, NDRF personnel and water utility staff launched an emergency operation. The leak was brought under control around 5:30 am, with the cylinder placed in a tank containing water and caustic soda as a precaution.
