External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar addressed the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Ahmedabad on April 02. While addressing the event, the External Affairs Minister categorically spoke about the India-China issues. He further hit out at India’s first Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru-led government and alleged that they made policies that favoured China more than India itself. External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar said, "In 1950, there was an exchange of views between Sardar Patel and (Jawaharlal) Nehru... Sardar Patel had warned Jawaharlal Nehru about China. Sardar Patel said that today we are facing a situation of two fronts (Pakistan and China), which for India has never happened in our history before. Sardar Patel also said that whatever the Chinese are saying, he feels that their intent is not good, and therefore, let us take precautions, and build a policy around this. Nehru's position was that he was completely dissenting. He replied to Patel that you are unnecessarily suspicious of the Chinese... Also, it is impossible for anybody to attack us across the Himalayas".

Talks around taking back the Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir have again gained the limelight in India. Political experts speculate that the Modi govt might take some actions soon to take back the PoK. The Narendra Modi Govt is reserving 24 seats for Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir in the J&K Assembly. Home Minister Amit Shah reaffirmed in the Parliament that “Pakistan Occupied Kashmir is ours”. As debate on Jawaharlal Nehru and Kashmir continues to rock Parliament amid Parliament Winter Session, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had launched scathing attacks on India’s first Prime Minister in the House during discussion on the J&K Reservation Bill. Countering the criticism, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi alleged that Union Home Minister ‘has no knowledge of history’ and that ‘he has a habit of rewriting history’. “Pandit Nehru gave his life for India, he was in jail for years. Amit Shah is unaware of history. I cannot expect him to know history, he has the habit of rewriting it," Rahul Gandhi told reporters outside parliament today.

Over the renaming of the museum, a row erupted between Congress and BJP. Congress lashed the Modi Government’s decision of changing the name of the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library.
