In the hour of need, affirming India’s ‘Neighbourhood First Policy’, an IAF C-17 Globemaster carrying relief materials headed to Nepal on Nov 05. The flight carried essential relief materials and medical aid for the victims of the earthquake. The medical supplies including life-saving drugs, and surgical items to help Nepal recover from the devastation. India has been one of the first countries to provide humanitarian aid to the people of quake-hit Nepal. On November 4, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted that he was deeply saddened by the loss of lives after a massive earthquake of 6.4 magnitude jolted Nepal in the late hours of November 03. In the deadly quake, at least 157 people lost their lives and hundreds of others got injured. The injured, including women and children, were receiving treatment in hospitals in several parts of Nepal.

Meanwhile, Indian PM Narendra Modi had expressed his condolences as he said that he is ‘deeply saddened’ by the loss of lives. India also released an emergency contact number for Indians who require urgent assistance. Efforts are underway to provide medical assistance to those injured in the earthquake. The earthquake's impact has not been confined to Nepal alone, tremors were felt in several districts of North India, including Delhi-NCR, UP, and Bihar.
