North India
India is facing a brutal and relentless heatwave as temperatures soar across North and Central India, pushing cities into crisis mode. Delhi has already recorded 44.5°C, with forecasts warning that the capital could soon touch 46°C. Banda in Uttar Pradesh emerged as the hottest city in the country with temperatures crossing a blistering 48°C. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued severe heatwave alerts for multiple states including Delhi, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana and Bihar. Hot desert winds from the Thar region continue to fuel the dangerous conditions.

Mumbai and its neighbouring districts—Thane, Ratnagiri, and Raigad—are in for a sweltering weekend as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave alert. According to the latest weather update, these areas will experience heatwave conditions in some pockets for three days, starting Sunday. With temperatures on the rise, Mumbai is already feeling the summer heat. The city is expected to have clear skies over the next 24 hours, but the day is likely to be exceptionally hot. Meteorologists from IMD’s Regional Centre in Mumbai say the soaring daytime temperatures are due to strong easterly winds. As the heatwave sets in, experts urge residents to stay hydrated and limit their time under the sun to avoid heat-related health issues.
