An oil tanker has reportedly suffered an explosion south of the Strait of Hormuz, with Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy saying a naval mine triggered a fire in the vessel's engine room. According to the IRGC statement, the unidentified tanker had switched off its GPS and navigation systems while attempting to leave the strategic waterway through a route Iran considers unauthorized. Tehran accused the vessel of violating maritime regulations and warned that ships operating with their identification and navigation systems disabled would face a firm response.
