Founder and former editor-in-chief of Tehelka, Tarun Tejpal, has been booked for raping a female colleague, on Thursday. However, Tejpal pleaded not guilty to rape charge and denied all the charges against him. The case will come for hearing on November 21. Tejpal was accused of outraging the modesty of a female journalist during an event in Goa in 2013
Goa Assembly by-polls polling began in Panaji, Valpoi on Wednesday morning. Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar was seen casting his vote. Talking to media, he said, there will be heavy voting and till noon more than 50% voting will be done.
The Indian Coast Guard rescued two South African nationals on the high seas after their yacht broke down on Monday. The coast guard district headquarters at Kavaratti Island in Arabian Sea received a message from police regarding sighting of a drifting yacht off the coast on August 03.

Goa's Feni is all set to go places as the state government gets ready to amend the four-decade old Excise Act to give the traditional brew a 'Heritage Spirit' tag. Goa Commissioner of Excise Menino D'Souza said the state government is slated to move an amendment to the Goa Excise Duty Act, 1964, which will save Feni from being tagged as country liquor and instead would be classified as 'Heritage Spirit'.

A Syrian national, allegedly overstaying in India, was traced and detained by Goa Police from an offshore casino off Panaji late on Monday night. Inspector General of Police, Sunil Garg on Tuesday said that they had got information that a person from Syria was missing during his overstay in country and his location was said to be around Goa.
