While photography has been predominantly a men-dominated profession, more and more women are taking on the field and breaking barriers one click at a time. But is it really easy to be a woman photographer in 2023? Meet Salonee Jain, an Indian photographer based in Mumbai who left her cushy job in consulting to follow her passion for photography full-time. As a photographer, Salonee now travels the length and breadth of the country and this World Photography Day 2023, here is a peek into her life as a woman photographer.
18 August,2023 06:46 PM ISTThousands of Central Railway (CR) commuters were stranded on Thursday as local train services were delayed due to a signal glitch between Dadar and Parel railway station during the morning rush hour. Due to a technical snag between Dadar and Parel railway station on fast track (line 06) in Mumbai, a number of passengers, mostly office-goers, got down from the coaches between Sion and Matunga railway station, and started walking along the tracks to reach their offices. Many commuters were seen changing trains on track, while a few boarded moving trains.

Among those are Hindmata and King’s Circle, both of which were waterlogged on Tuesday after incessant downpour. But, once the rain stopped, both these spots were cleared of water, thanks to the holding tanks and water pumps. The BMC, however, faltered at one point the Milan subway. It was flooded like always and remained so even after the rain stopped, as the civic body forgot to install water pumps for the holding tank.

26 July,2017 09:20 PM ISTA fire broke out in a posh residential building in Parel area, a neighbourhood in Mumbai, on Wednesday morning at around 8.30 am. While the cause of the fire and its point of origin are yet to be established, the open electrical ducts are suspected to be one of the major reason for the spread of flames. The blaze was confined to the wiring in the electric duct in the lift lobby, lift shafts and corridors from the 12th storey to the 16th. Only on the 12th floor were all the apartments gutted. The building had no Occupancy Certificate (OC), and no fire audit had been carried out there either. Four people were killed in the tragic incident, and 22 others, including four firemen, were injured.
