The Reserve Bank of India on Friday announced the withdrawal Rs 2,000 note, from circulation, adding that the notes will continue to be legal tender. It said the existing Rs 2,000 notes can be deposited or exchanged in banks until September 30, but with a limit “Rs 20,000 at a time”. The central bank advised the public to deposit Rs 2,000 notes — introduced during demonetisation in November 2016, into their bank accounts and/ or exchange them into notes of other denominations at any bank branch. It also advised banks to stop issuing Rs 2,000 notes with immediate effect. This decision received praise as well as criticism from political fronts.

The root cause of it all is the colour of Deepika’s outfit in Pathaan’s song Besharam Rang. Several Hindu organisations have taken issue with Deepika wearing a sensual orange bikini in the song. Madhya Pradesh Minister, Narottam Mishra had also objected the usage of saffron color in the song. Swara Bhaskar had earlier tweeted on the news that the BJP-led government in Madhya Pradesh might consider banning the release of Pathaan in the state. She was again seen commenting on the issue today as the movie’s trailer has been out. Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer ‘Pathaan’ has become the latest victim of Bollywood’s boycott culture. The anger started over the saffron color of Deepika’s outfit in the song ‘Besharam Rang’. State Minister Narottam Mishra said the song is highly objectionable and shot with a dirty mindset. Ever since Mishra raised his voice, various political leaders have been raising voices against the song for hurting religious sentiments. Meanwhile, bollywood backed Pathaan indirectly by talking about Social media, freedom of speech at the Kolkata Film Festival and on twitter handles.
