Pranab Mukherjee cremated with state honours, nation bids tearful adieu

Former President and veteran Congress leader Pranab Mukherjee passed away in New Delhi on August 31, 2020, at the age of 84. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Ram Nath Kovind, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and politicians from across parties and hundreds of people armed with face masks and PPE kits paid homage to the "crisis man" of India at his funeral, held at Lodhi Road crematorium following a strict COVID-19 precautionary protocol.
