BJP leaders & workers protest outside AAP headquarters, want Kejriwal to quit

Delhi BJP leaders and workers staged a protest near the AAP headquarters on April 10. BJP is demanding the resignation of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal over the alleged excise policy scam. Recently, Kejriwal's plea against his arrest and remand in the excise policy of his government was rejected by the Delhi High Court on April 09. Meanwhile, CM Kejriwal has approached the Supreme Court challenging the high court order. Dramatic images surfaced from the Aam Aadmi Party's headquarters in New Delhi. During the protest, security personnel used water canons against BJP workers, who were trying to overpass the barricades. Watch video

AAP’s women workers in Delhi held a protest at the ITO foot over bridge on March 24 against Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest in the Excise Policy case. They raised slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Enforcement Directorate. Delhi Police officials also intervened to control the situation. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by ED on March 21. A protestor said, “Arvind Kejriwal has done so much good work for the women of Delhi. Citizenship Amendment Act: All Assam Students Union hold massive protest against

A day after CAA was implemented in India, AASU on March 12, held a massive protest march against the law. The march was led by Assam Students' Union chief advisor Samujjal Bhattacharya. Holding bamboo torches, placards and posters, the massive crowd raised slogans against the Government. Samujjal Bhattacharya during the protest called CAA to be communal, unconstitutional, anti-India, anti-northeast. Notably, Union Home Ministry on March 11 notified rules for implementation of CAA days ahead of LS Polls 2024. The Act aims to confer Indian citizenship to persecuted non-Muslim migrants including Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, Buddhists, Parsis, and Christians who migrated from Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Afghanistan and arrived in India before December 31, 2014.

They gathered in front of the Mahatma Gandhi statue inside the Parliament premises and raised ‘Parivarvad Quit India’ slogans. A crucial discussion on the no-confidence motion against the Modi-led NDA Government is underway in Lok Sabha. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also expected to give a reply to the no-confidence motion on August 10.

‘We will return medals and live normal life’ say wrestlers at Jantar Mantar

Following the scuffle with the Police in the late hours of May 03, the top Wrestlers are now planning to return their medals. While talking to the media on May 04, Wrestler Bajrang Punia asked what will they do with the medals if this is how they are being treated.  “If this is how the wrestlers will be treated, what will we do with the medals? Rather we will live a normal life and return all the medals and awards to the Indian Government,” said Wrestler Bajrang Punia. Meanwhile, heavy security was deployed at the Jantar Mantar area on May 04 after a ruckus broke out late last night between protesting wrestlers and some police personnel. Delhi Police said that DCPs of all districts in Delhi have been asked to be on alert in their districts, especially in the border areas. They said that Police have received inputs that a large number of people can reach Jantar Mantar where the wrestlers are protesting. “I was abused and pushed around by policemen. Where were the women police personnel? If you want to kill us, kill us. Did we win medals for the country to see this day? We have not even eaten our food. Does every man have a right to abuse women? These policemen are holding guns, they can kill us,” said Vinesh Phogat.

Late night scuffle between Delhi Police and wrestlers at Jantar Mantar

A scuffle broke out between ace wrestlers protesting against WFI chief and Delhi Police at Jantar Mantar on May 3rd. Vinesh Phogat, Bajrang Punia, Sakshee Mallikh and other top grapplers are continuously protesting against sexual harassment charges against the WFI chief. While addressing a press conference, the wrestlers targeted Delhi Police for abusing, misbehaving and using force against them to stop them from protesting. Speaking about it, the Delhi Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) said that the wrestlers have been told to give complaint on their grievances so that appropriate action can be taken.

Neeraj Chopra 'hurt' to see athletes on streets, comes in support

India’s ace wrestlers continue their protest against WFI president Brij Bhushan Singh over allegations of sexual harassment.  Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra on Friday came in support of the athletes, and said that he was 'hurt'. Top Indian grapplers including Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Malik, Bajrang Punia, are involved in the protest against the WFI chief. Notably, India’s first individual Olympic gold medalist Abhinav Bindra has also extended support to wrestlers. Following the protest, in January, the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports announced the formation of an 'oversight committee' to probe allegations. However, wrestlers have alleged that no concrete action has been taken yet against WFI president. On April 27, India’s Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Anurag Thakur said that “athlete is priority” for Centre.
