In a powerful retaliatory strike, the Indian Armed Forces launched ‘Operation Sindoor’ on May 7, targeting terrorist infrastructure across the border. Following the heightened tensions, Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, sources confirmed. Jammu and Kashmir CM Omar Abdullah stated that India’s response was triggered by the Pahalgam attack, where 26 civilians were killed. Emphasising that India does not want war, he said the aim was to reply without targeting civilians or military areas. He blamed Pakistan for initiating the aggression and stressed the desire for peace, urging Pakistan to de-escalate. He also reassured citizens that there’s no need to panic, as schools remain open and the situation is under control despite the Srinagar airport closure.
