AR Rahman was recently awarded the prestigious Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award at a ceremony in Mumbai. During his acceptance speech, AR Rahman shared that his father had deep respect for the Mangeshkar family. He said, “My father, when he was working in the film industry down south, used to get up facing Lata Mangeshkar ji’s photograph. So, when I became a composer from the south and the enormous love I got from you guys, changed my life. One thing I tell my family – my kids – is that look at the Mangeshkar family. The dedication they have. today we need that, today we need to celebrate the dedication of Lata ji, Asha ji, Hridaynath ji and the whole family. Hridaynath ji keeps asking me what I like about him. I say, ‘everything’.”

External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar on April 04 said that one of the biggest achievement of Modi-Government is that it has carried out rescue operations abroad numerous times. “Many Indians live outside India… they travel outside India, they study outside India… In few years we had big challenges… There was a war in Ukraine…War between Israel and Gaza… there is civil war in Sudan… We have had many times to do rescue operations… One of the Modi-Government is that we tell every Indian to feel safe when outside because we are there for you,” said EAM S Jaishankar.

Diljit, along with his co-star Parineeti Chopra, director Imtiaz Ali and music composer AR Rahman, was seen unveiling the trailer of Chamkila, which is a biopic of the slain Punjabi singer Amar Singh Chamkila. Actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh became emotional after director Imtiaz Ali praised him, saying that despite his achievements, it's just the beginning for him. Imtiaz Ali stated, "Sab kehte hain aapne bohot kuch achieve kar liya hai lekin ye bas aapki shuruwat hai... Aap jaha bhi jaaoge, hum bhi aapke saath chalenge," leaving the actor emotional. Imtiaz Ali’s Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra-starrer biopic 'Chamkila' on singer Amar Singh Chamkila is set to premiere on Netflix on April 12. This Netfliz movie is based on the life of the singer, who was assassinated at the age of 27. External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar, while speaking at the Munich Security Conference on February 17, affirmed India’s strong ties with Western countries in Munich. He said, “I think, it's important today to make a distinction, between being non-West and anti-West, I would not only characterise India as a country, which is non-West but which has an extremely strong relation with the Western countries, getting better by the days.” In his speech, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Saturday reaffirmed India's stand and commitment to buy Russian oil despite respective sanctions on Moscow amid the military conflict with Ukraine, saying it should not be a problem for others.

Tensions simmer in Red Sea as Yemen-backed Houthis continue to attack commercial ships, affecting international trade. On January 10, Houthi rebels launched 18 drones over southern Red Sea, according to the US military’s Central Command, reported Al Jazeera. The Houthi rebels, who are an Iran-aligned group, started the strikes in retaliation for Israel’s Gaza conflict. Meanwhile, EAM Dr S Jaishankar on Jan 13 highlighted the ongoing challenges in Red Sea region. The External Affairs Minister raised concern over continuous missiles firing, causing damage to ships by Houthi rebels. Also, US carried out fresh strikes against Houthi targets in Yemen amid escalating tensions in Red Sea, CNN reported. These strikes followed a coordinated attack on approximately 30 Houthi locations the day before. Earlier, US Secy Antony Blinken held a telephonic conversation with EAM Jaishankar on January 11. Both leaders discussed recent attacks on merchant ships by Houthis in the Red Sea, informed State Dept spox Matthew Miller.

He talked about India’s diplomatic ties and without mentioning, he slammed the countries condemning India’s energy purchases from Russia. He said, “Diplomacy, international relations, good ties, friendships, are not about giving other people a say in your choice. Our choice must be our choice. However, difficult it is. When it came to our energy purchases, our national choices and national interest, were supposed to be subservient to the political correctness of other countries, who by the way, had made their own arrangements.”
