Heavy monsoon rains have battered Mumbai, causing severe waterlogging across several parts of the city and triggering a tragic incident in Sakinaka. A 55-year-old man, Aslam Esaf Shaikh, was swept into an open manhole concealed beneath floodwater during the downpour. Fire brigade and disaster management teams launched a rescue operation, and his body was recovered after nearly two hours. He was later declared dead at Rajawadi Hospital.

Maharashtra minister Subhash Desai has said that the family of the deceased will be given Rs 5 lakh each and people injured will get free treatment. The four-storeyed building collapsed in  Kurla's Naik Nagar late on Monday night. The injured have been admitted to Rajawadi Hospital
