A #Mumbai non-profit Pukar and #American #NGO Rise Up are behind a lockdown initiative in three of the city’s slum settlements where young girls are investigating what’s stopping them from living a full life and finding tools to make a change. #Girls from slum communities of #Mandala, #Dharavi and #KualaBandar are working with #NGOPUKAR and Rise Up to combat sexual harassment and the lack of access to higher education. In Kuala Bandar, girls have even created an area map that identifies spots where sexual harassment is rampant

A survey by the Awaaz Foundation at some of these sites has found that pollution levels had a direct co-relation with the size of the garbage dump being burnt.
