PM Modi has topped the list of most popular global leaders yet again with 76 pc approval rating. The latest approval rating was published by Morning Consult, a US-based decision intelligence company. Other world leaders are trailing behind Narendra Modi by a huge margin as per the latest survey. The second-highest approval rating is held by Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador at 66 percent. United States President Joe Biden and UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak remained absent from the top 5 popular leaders. US President Biden has a 37 pc approval rating, Canadian PM Trudeau stood at 31 pc, UK PM Sunak at 25 pc. He was deployed in the world’s highest battlefield Siachen Glacier. His mortal remains are being brought to his residence today. Hundreds of people gathered to console the grieving family members on his final journey.

Fresh violence in Manipur claims 9 lives, situation remains tense

The situation remains tense in Manipur as 9 people were killed and ten people got injured in fresh violence. Tensions gripped the state, as ethnic clashes continue in Manipur’s Imphal East and Kangpokbi district.Seven people died on the spot after violence while two succumbed to their injuries during treatment at a nearby hospital. Weighing in on prevailing situation, the state govt extended curfew and elongated the ban on internet till June 15 Official sources said that the role of suspected militants in the killings is being probed. The area in the jurisdiction of Imphal East has seen such incidents of violence over the last two-three days. Notably, HM Amit Shah visited Manipur in late May and announced a series of measures to restore peace in the state.

Three days after announcing that he was stepping down as the president of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), veteran leader Sharad Pawar Friday withdrew his decision after a 18-member committee of senior party leaders, unanimously rejected his resignation. Pawar at a press conference announced his decision. His daughter and Baramati MP Supriya Sule, Maharashtra NCP chief Jayant Patil and senior party leader Praful Patel were among those present at the press meet. Incidentally, Pawar’s nephew and Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Ajit Pawar was absent. NCP leader Praful Patel had briefed the media about the committee’s decision to reject Mr. Pawar’s decision. Workers who had gathered outside the NCP headquarters since early morning celebrated the committee’s decision by bursting crackers and chanting slogans.
