US President Donald Trump had invited Italy’s ire after claiming in an interview that Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni "begged" him for a photograph during the G7 Summit. Trump said Meloni wanted a picture with him "so badly" and claimed he only agreed because he "felt sorry" for her. The remarks triggered a fierce response from the Italian leader, who called the claims "completely made up" and insisted that "Italy never begs."
