Built at cost of over Rs 17,840 crore, all you need to know about Atal Setu

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Maharashtra tomorrow and unveil projects worth over Rs 30,500 crore in the state. He will inaugurate the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Sewri-Nhava Sheva Atal Setu, built at a cost of about Rs 17,840 crore. Atal Setu is the longest bridge and also the longest sea bridge in the country. During the visit, the Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone of an underground road tunnel connecting Eastern Freeway's Orange Gate and launch Namo Mahila Shashaktikaran Abhiyaan in the state.

MS Dhoni files criminal cases against ex-business partners for duping him

Former Indian Skipper MS Dhoni filed criminal cases against his former business partners for an alleged fraud. MS Dhoni’s lawyer Dayanand Singh informed that CSK captain was allegedly duped by former ‘Ranji player’ of over 15 crore. He also alleged that the accused deceived MS Dhoni by saying that he would open cricket academies in his name. Dhoni filed a complaint in the Ranchi court against Mihir Diwakar and Soumya Vishwas of Arca Sports and Management Limited alleging discrepancies in a 2017 business transaction.

Reliance Jio launched India’s ‘most affordable’ 4G-enabled laptop ‘JioBook’ on July 31. The laptop is equipped with an advanced JioOS operating system, an 11.6-inch HD display. This sleek and lightweight learning book weighs only 990 grams and gives a ‘full-day’ battery life. JioBook comes pre-loaded with a Jio 4G LTE SIM and offers Dual Band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0. Under the hood, it has 4GB RAM, 64GB flash memory, expandable to 256GB. JioBook is priced at Rs 16,499 which makes it affordable for the students. JioBook was initially released discreetly last year and only made available to a select group of buyers. However, this time around, with the new JioBook, the company aims to target a wider audience.

Drugs worth 15,000 crores seized by NCB off Kochi coast originating from Pak

In what is claimed to be India’s biggest drug haul in terms of monetary value, NCB seized drugs worth 15,000 crores off the Kochi coast. The seizure was part of ‘Operation Samudragupt’ targeting maritime drug trafficking. 134 sacks of suspected Methamphetamine were recovered from a ship. As per Deputy Director-General of Narcotics Control Bureau, Sanjay Kumar Singh, the source of the drugs is Pakistan. One person, suspected to be a Pakistan national, was arrested by the agencies and an investigation is on.

Watch: Indian Coast Guard Seizes Drugs Worth Rs 1,526 Crore

According to an official press release, a joint operation by the DRI with Indian Coast Guard (ICG) codenamed Operation Khojbeen was launched on May 7. Under the said operation, Coast Guard ship Sujeet, with DRI officials onboard, maintained a close watch near the Exclusive Economic Zone. After several days of continuous search and monitoring amidst very rough seas, two suspected boats 'Prince' and 'Little Jesus' were noticed moving towards India. Both the Indian boats were intercepted by officers of ICG and DRI on May 18, off the coast of Lakshadweep Islands. A thorough search of both the boats was carried out at the Coast Guard District Headquarters at Kochi, which resulted in the recovery of 218 packets of 1 kg each of heroin, estimated to be around Rs 1,526 crore.

BMC to shell out Rs 1,300 crore for sewage treatment plants

Mumbai civic body, the BMC has proposed to set up two sewage treatment plants for Dahisar river and five for Oshiwara. The Dahisar river is 13 km long, out of which 4.7 km is outside SGNP and falls under the BMC’s jurisdiction. There will be two sewage treatment plants of capacity 1.5 MLD and 5 MLD at Dahisar. The Oshiwara river is 7.3 km long and will have five sewage treatment plants with a combined capacity of 20.5 MLD. The administration has proposed to give the contract to SK-SP associates at a cost of Rs 376 crore and to M/S Shapurji Palanji and Konark at a total cost of Rs 928 crore.
