External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar has stepped up India’s diplomatic outreach at the United Nations General Assembly, holding a series of high-level meetings focused on trade, technology, climate action, energy, defence, connectivity and wider geopolitical challenges. Jaishankar’s engagements with European partners including the Netherlands, Finland and Slovenia put India-EU cooperation, the proposed India-EU FTA, manufacturing, energy and defence ties in focus. Discussions also covered the Ukraine conflict, technological challenges and commitments linked to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s international engagements.

An LPG tanker carrying 28 Indian crew members came under attack in Iranian territorial waters, raising fresh concerns over maritime security amid escalating tensions in the Middle East. The Embassy of India in Tehran confirmed that all 28 Indian nationals aboard the Mozambique-flagged vessel DISHA are safe and said it remains in close contact with the relevant authorities. While officials have not disclosed the nature of the attack or the extent of damage to the vessel, the incident has intensified concerns over the safety of commercial shipping in the region.
