Rahul Gandhi’s latest remark at Brown University in the US has triggered massive controversy in India. During a discussion at the Watson Institute, the Congress leader referred to Lord Ram as a "mythological figure", a comment that has not gone down well with many in India. The BJP immediately labelled him "anti-Ram" and "anti-Hindu", questioning his understanding of India's religious roots. More notably, saints and seers from Ayodhya have publicly condemned the statement, calling it an insult to millions of devotees.

Hailing Rahul Gandhi on his Bharat Jodo Yatra, Congress veteran leader Salman Khurshid said that Gandhi is “like a yogi doing his 'tapasya' with focus”. Linking Congress to 'Bharat' and Rahul Gandhi to 'Lord Ram', Khurshid said, "Rahul Gandhi is superhuman. While we are freezing in the cold and wearing jackets, he is going out in T-Shirts (for his Bharat Jodo Yatra). He is like a yogi doing his 'tapasya' with focus," he said. Several Hindu sages have objected to this statement. They challenged him to chant a single shloka, and assured that he would not know any. The sages also questioned Rahul Gandhi’s comments on Veer Savarkar.
