Rescue and search is operation underway in Ganderbal Nowgam area of Srinagar. 3 people are still missing in the boat capsizing incident that occurred in the Jhelum River yesterday. According to DC Srinagar, Six bodies have been found so far. Officials said that the rescue operation continued till 11 pm last night but was halted due to darkness and heavy water flow in the river Jhelum. On 16th of April, in a tragic accident a boat carrying school children overturned in the Jhelum river in the Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir. The Srinagar Administration had launched a rescue operation in the area. A State Disaster Response Force team was also deployed. At least six persons including four children were found dead. 4 bodies were recovered, while others were missing. Continuous rains over last two days led to an increase in the water levels of several water bodies, including Jhelum.

Israel has put in a request with the UN Security Council to immediately convene a meeting to unequivocally condemn Iran. Soon after Israeli missiles hit the Iranian consulate in Syria, Iran vowed revenge on Israel. The attack claimed the lives of Iran’s top three Military Generals which added ‘fuel to the fire’ in the war in the Middle East. In a retaliatory move, Iran struck hundreds of UAVs, cruise missiles and ballistic missiles on Israeli soil. Israeli Envoy to UN Gilad Erdan demanded Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGP) to be designated as a “Terrorist Organisation”. Israel said that Iran poses a direct threat to international peace and violated the UN Charter. Meanwhile, Israeli PM Netanyahu on April 13 said that the country has prepared for an attack by Iran and is ready “for any scenario”.

A horrific bus accident took place in Haryana’s Mahendragarh on April 11 sending shockwaves across India. At least 5 students were killed and 15 were rendered injured after a private school bus overturned in the Kanina town. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital following the horrific road tragedy. As per police, the driver was driving the bus under the influence of alcohol. One of the parents and other locals also claimed that the driver was drunk while driving. One of the relatives of deceased child said the school administration was made aware of the drinking habit of the driver. On the other hand, another relative of deceased child raised questions on Govt and School administration. Expressing grief, PM Modi said that “state govt is engaged in providing all possible help to victims and their families”. Haryana CM Nayab Saini expressed grief over the incident and assured stringent action on the guilty. However, the question of the school being operational on a festival day (Eid) sparked a political row. Former Deputy CM of Haryana Dushyant Chautala raised questions and targeted Haryana Govt and administration.

A private screening of the film 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan' was organised at the YRF studio on Wednesday evening. The makers and a few other celebrities were seen at the intimate screening. While Tiger Shroff, who is one of the leads alongside Akshay Kumar, made an appearance, Disha Patani too was seen at the screening. More than five students were killed and 15 others were injured after a private school bus overturned in Kanina town of Haryana’s Mahendragarh district on April 11. The driver is believed to have been drunk, say the police. Police sources said that the bus's driver jumped out of the speeding vehicle after losing control of it and it rammed a tree. The injured were immediately admitted to private hospitals. The kids were on their way to GL Public School, a private school located in Kanina of Mahendragarh when the tragic incident took place. President Droupadi Murmu extended her condolences for the tragic loss of schoolchildren in Haryana bus accident.
