In a big win for the Hindu side in the Gyanvapi case, the Varanasi district court allowed to offer prayers inside the sealed basement of Gyanvapi Mosque. The court ordered that the barricades in the basement have to be removed in seven days and puja is allowed in ‘Vyas ka Taykhana’. The mosque is located next to the Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi and Hindu litigants in the district court had sought the survey to determine whether a temple existed at the same spot earlier which was proved in the recent survey. The survey of the Gyanvapi mosque premises began after the Allahabad High Court rejected the petition filed by Muslim litigants seeking a stay on the Varanasi court's order for a scientific survey by the ASI. Further details are awaited on the case.

Talking about the notice issued to Bollywood actors, Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn and Akshay Kumar by the Allahabad High Court in the Gutkha Advertisement Case, advocate Moti Lal Yadav on December 10 said that the court gave directions to the Government of India to frame guidelines to revoke the Padma awards and Consumer Protection Authority of India to take action against the companies and the endorsers. “The do misleading advertisement… I had filled a petition to revoke their Padma awards and impose the fines on them, and take action against them and the companies… The court gave directions to the Government of India to frame guidelines to revoke the awards and the Consumer Protection Authority of India to take action against the companies and the endorsers,” said Moti Lal Yadav.

Actor Nushrratt Bharuccha landed in Mumbai on October 8th after her return from war-torn Israel. Nushrratt was in Israel to attend the Haifa International Film Festival. After getting help and assistance from the embassy amid the ongoing Hamas attack, Nushrratt found her way back to India through a connecting flight via Abu Dhabi. The actor was stuck in Israel as it suffered one of the biggest attacks in decades by the Islamist group Hamas. After the controversy over Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena's advertisement that was released on Tuesday, another ad has been published on Wednesday. The Shiv Sena-led by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde raised eyebrows on Tuesday by putting out an advertisement citing a survey which showed that Shinde was the most popular choice for the state's top political job rather than his deputy Devendra Fadnavis. Whatever the intentions of Shinde's Shiv Sena in publishing the ad, it gave enough fodder to the Opposition to get back at the ruling alliance. Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut lambasted Shinde for not using the picture of Balasaheb Thackeray or mentioning him anywhere in the ad. Nationalist Congress Party MP Supriya Sule turned the numbers in the ad against Shinde. She said that if only 46.4% people preferred the BJP and Shiv Sena parties combined, it means majority of the people were against them.
