Arvind Kejriwal Arrest: Court sends Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal to ED custody

The Enforcement Directorate arrested Delhi CM Kejriwal on March 23 in connection with the alleged Delhi Liquor scam case. The Rouse Avenue Court on March 22 sent Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to ED custody till March 28. The agency had sought 10 days of remand. The AAP Chief was produced before the court of Special Judge Kaveri Baweja. Senior Advocates Abhishek Manu Singhvi, Vikram Chaudhari, and Ramesh Gupta along with Advocates Rajat Bharadwaj, Mudit Jain and Mohd Irshad appeared for the Delhi CM Kejriwal. Arvind Kejriwal Arrest was executed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the excise policy case on Thursday after the Delhi High Court refused interim protection to him from coercive action in connection with the excise policy case. The case pertains to alleged irregularities and money laundering in framing and implementing the Delhi Excise Policy 2022, which was later scrapped.

An IAF C-17 Globemaster carrying relief materials departed for El-Arish airport in Egypt on Nov 19. The flight carried 32 tonnes of relief material for the Palestinians as India continues to deliver humanitarian aid amidst the Israel-Hamas Conflict. It included essential life-saving drugs, tents, sleeping bags, sanitary utilities among other necessary items. The flight carrying the relief supplies will land at El-Arish airport in Egypt. Previously, India sent relief materials for the people of Palestine on October 22. India has been one of the first countries to provide humanitarian aid to the people of Palestine. The move comes amid the escalating recent war between Israel and Hamas. With no sign of a ceasefire on the horizon, more than 11,000 people have been killed in Gaza war.

At least 36 people died in a bus accident in the Assar region of Doda in Jammu & Kashmir on November 15.  The injured were rushed to District Hospital Kishtwar and GMC Doda. They have been shifted to nearby health facilities for immediate treatment. Death toll in Doda bus accident rises to 36 with 19 injured. 25 bodies recovered so far. Further details are awaited. “The bus accident in Doda, Jammu and Kashmir is distressing,” PM Modi tweeted. PM Modi also announced ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh from PMNRF to the next of kin of each deceased in the Doda bus accident.

Nepal earthquake: India sends relief material and medical aid to Nepal

As Nepal grapples with the aftermath of the Nepal earthquake, India stepped up to help its neighbour by providing aid. In the hour of need, affirming India’s ‘Neighbourhood First Policy’, an IAF C-17 Globemaster carrying relief materials headed to Nepal on Nov 05. The flight carried essential relief materials and medical aid for the victims of the earthquake. The medical supplies including life-saving drugs, and surgical items to help Nepal recover from the devastation. India has been one of the first countries to provide humanitarian aid to the people of quake-hit Nepal. On November 4, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted that he was deeply saddened by the loss of lives after a massive earthquake of 6.4 magnitude jolted Nepal in the late hours of November 03. In the deadly quake, at least 157 people lost their lives and hundreds of others got injured. The injured, including women and children, were receiving treatment in hospitals in several parts of Nepal.

According to Reuters, over 4,300 Gazans and at least 1,400 Israelis have been killed.

Turkey Earthquake| India Sends Medical Help, Turkish Envoy Thanks ‘Dost’

India is sending across an Army medical team, National Disaster Relief Force (NDRF) personnel, and medical supplies to support Turkey where a series of massive earthquakes struck Monday killing over 4,300 people and injuring thousands. As per the Army, the Agra-based 60 Para Field Hospital has dispatched a 99-member medical team. The teams are equipped with X-ray machines, ventilators, an oxygen generation plant, cardiac monitors and associated equipment to establish a 30-bedded medical facility. According to defence sources, two C-17 Globemaster aircraft of the Indian Air Force (IAF) are likely to carry the Army medical team from Agra. On Monday, earthquakes of magnitude 7.7, 7.6 and 6.0 centered in Turkey. The tremors were also felt in several neighboring countries, including Lebanon and Syria. PM Modi while addressing the India Energy Week 2023 in Bengaluru said that India is ready to assist the victims in every possible way. A team of NDRF, a specially trained dog squad, and necessary equipment departed from Hindon Airbase to carry out search and rescue operations. The reports have confirmed the death toll in Turkey and Syria has reached more than 3,800.
