South Mumbai
Mumbai witnessed widespread disruption after relentless monsoon rain battered the city, leaving roads submerged, railway services severely affected and thousands of commuters stranded during peak office and college hours. Heavy rainfall exceeding 100 mm in several areas caused extensive waterlogging across the city, forcing the closure of key stretches including the Andheri Subway. The city's suburban railway network, the lifeline of Mumbai, also faced significant disruption. The situation turned tragic in South Mumbai after a portion of Surya Prakash Building in Walkeshwar collapsed amid the heavy rain. One person lost their life, while rescue teams rushed to the site to carry out search and rescue operations. Emergency personnel remained on the scene as authorities assessed the structural damage.
