Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his latest interview with the US-based Magazine ‘Newsweek’ talked about the India-China relations. PM Modi stressed the ‘prolonged situation’ on the disputed India-China border should be discussed ‘urgently’ to normalize the bilateral ties. The PM emphasized that the stable and peaceful relations between India and China are important for the entire region and world. PM Modi on the topic of competing with China highlighted that the country has an edge when being pitted against China which is currently engulfed in economic woes. Reacting to this, China also ‘noted’ PM Modi's remarks on the border ties between the two countries. Chinese spokesperson Mao Ning said that ‘sound and stable’ ties would serve the interests of both countries. Meanwhile, Congress also reacted to PM Modi’s interview with the magazine and said that the PM has crossed "all limits of cowardice". Stand-up comedian and Bigg Boss 17 winner Munawar Faruqui is yet again in limelight. Let us tell you that the Bigg Boss 17 winner along with 13 other people were detained by Mumbai police on Mar 26. They were detained in a late-night raid from a hookah parlour in the Fort area in south Mumbai. Munawar was one of the popular contestants of the 17th season of the Bigg Boss house. According to the Mumbai Police, a case was registered against Faruqui and 13 more people. The raid, prompted by a tip-off received by the SS branch, targeted the hookah bar situated at Bora Bazar, falling within the jurisdiction of MRA Marg police station. After verifying that tobacco was being smoked, an offence was registered under the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act However, the stand up comedian was later let off after the case was lodged. A police officer said that since it was a bailable offence, the accused were not imprisoned.

India has again rejected the "absurd claims" and "baseless arguments" made by China on Arunachal Pradesh. In a befitting reply to China on Arunachal, India asserted it to be an "integral and inalienable part of India". The MEA noted that people of Arunachal will "continue to benefit" from India's development programmes. Chinese Defence Ministry recently reiterated its claim over Arunachal Pradesh, terming the Indian State as “China’s inherent territory”. The Chinese military's comments came days after India rejected China’s remark on PM Modi’s visit to the northeast state. PM Modi on March 9 virtually inaugurated the strategic Sela Tunnel during an event held in the capital city of Itanagar. Further on March 15, Zhang said that China “firmly opposes India's illegal establishment of the so-called 'Arunachal Pradesh'”.

India’s External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar on March 08 snubbed the ‘double standard allegations against India. He was told that India has not criticised Russia in the country’s ongoing conflict with Ukraine and people think of it as “double st andards” of India. To this, Jaishankar sharply replied and said, “We in India know better than almost any other country. Because immediately after our independence, we experienced aggression. We experienced an effort to change our boundaries and even today, parts of India are occupied by another country. But we did not see the world responds saying that there’s a great principle involved and therefore let us all go with India. Yes, today we are being told that there are principles involved. I wish I had seen that principle in play for the last 80 years. I have seen those principles cherry-picked when suits people and not when it does not suit people.” S Jaishankar’s Japan Visit is scheduled from March 6 to 8.

A clash broke out in Assam’s Guwahati on January 22 during Congress’ Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra. Congress workers were seen breaking the police barricades while Rahul Gandhi was standing atop a bus. Congress workers raised anti-BJP slogans during Rahul Gandhi’s speech at Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra. Assam CM allegedly ordered administration to stop Rahul Gandhi from interacting with university students. Some of the Congress workers were also detained by the police during the clashes.
