A three-storey building collapsed on the premises of the Swaminarayan temple in the George Town area of Prayagraj on Friday night. The 12-room structure had reportedly developed cracks and had been closed for about a week before the collapse. Temple authorities said construction work was underway behind the building and a pit dug for the project had remained filled with water for an extended period, which is believed to have weakened the foundation.
