Amid the Israel-Hamas Conflict, US President Joe Biden's top advisers asked lawmakers to provide billions more dollars to Israel on October 31. The congressional hearing was interrupted repeatedly by a few protesters denouncing American support for Israel. The officials were heckled for backing what they called "genocide" against Palestinian citizens in Gaza. A day after condemning the “brutal attack” on Israel by the Palestinian militant group Hamas, Congress on October 09 extended its support for Palestinians. Congress Working Committee called for an “immediate cease-fire” between Israeli forces and Hamas militant group. The resolution passed by Congress supported the rights of the Palestinian people. As per sources, during the upcoming monsoon session of Parliament, the Central government is considering introducing a bill on implementing a Uniform Civil Code (UCC). UCC refers to a set of common personal laws for all citizens of India and is not based on religion in dealing with marriage, divorce, inheritance, and adoption, among other personal matters. Amid the ongoing debate over the Centre’s Uniform Civil Code move, where various leaders from different political parties have expressed their views on the sensitive topic, Congress leader and Himachal Minister Vikramaditya Singh on July 01 backed the UCC, citing “Congress party has always contributed towards taking unity and integrity forward.” Following his comments speculations are being made that Congress is divided over the issue. On July 1st, Congress stuck to its stated stand on the uniform civil code (UCC) saying it is undesirable at this stage and noted that it will comment further if a draft bill or a report on the issue comes up.

Foreign Minister of Russia Sergey Lavrov landed in New Delhi on March 01 to attend the two-day meeting of the G20 Foreign Ministers which is scheduled to take place on March 01 and March 02. According to sources, India is looking forward to have discussions on issues like climate change and the debt on developing countries in the meeting between the Foreign Ministers. The New Delhi meeting will also be attended by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, UK Foreign Secretary James Cleverly and China’s Foreign Minister Qin Gang. In all, representatives of 40 countries, including non-G20 members invited by India, and multilateral organisations will also attend the meeting.

Given the enthusiastic response of movie-goers in advance booking, industry experts are confident that Shah Rukh Khan-starrer "Pathan" will open somewhere between Rs 45 to 50 crore at the box office. The Yash Raj Films project, which marks Shah Rukh's return to leading men roles after 2018's "Zero", is set to hit cinema halls a day before the Republic Day. The advance bookings for “Pathaan”, backed by Yash Raj Films, opened from January 20. The film is reportedly set to be released across Indian in 5,000 screens. It is a first Shah Rukh Khan film to have 6 am shows.
