Former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi passed away on May 13. The 72-year-old senior BJP leader passed away at AIIMS Hospital in Delhi. He was battling cancer for the last seven months. He was suffering from urinary bladder cancer metastasis. Modi was at the last stage of cancer. He announced his treatment last month and did not participate in the Lok Sabha Election Campaign. Sushil Kumar Modi who was born on 5th January 1952 was a lifelong member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). His mortal remains will be brought to his residence in Patna and his last rites will be performed on 14th May. PM Modi expressed grief for the loss of his valuable colleague and friend through a post on X. Home Minister Amit Shah also condoled the demise of the BJP leader through a post on X. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also grieved the loss of Sushil Kumar Modi. BJP leader JP Nadda also extended his condolences.

All India Congress Committee (AICC) observers for Karnataka, Sushil Kumar Shinde, Deepak Bawaria and Bhanwar Jitendra Singh arrived in Delhi on May 15. Notably, Congress is all set to announce its Chief Ministerial candidate for Karnataka today. Rajya Sabha MP Randeep Singh Surjewala said that final report will be submitted to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. “The observers will submit their report to party president Mallikarjun Kharge by tonight. We will soon form the government in Karnataka”.
