MPs Suspension: INDIA bloc leaders hold protest march

Following the suspension of Opposition Parliamentarians, INDIA Bloc leaders staged a protest march on Dec 21. The protest march was held from Parliament complex to Vijay Chowk. Opposition has been demanding a statement from Union Minister Amit Shah on the Parliament security breach incident. The protest march was held amid the presence of heavy security personnel. Notably, a total of 143 MPs were suspended from Parliament over causing a ruckus and disrupting proceedings. While holding a protest against the recent controversy of MPs suspension from the Parliament which arose due to a ruckus created by the Opposition on the Parliament Security Breach issue, LoP Rajya Sabha & Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge questioned PM Modi’s absence from the Parliament session.

Parliament Security Breach: Mallikarjun Kharge questions PM Modi’s absence

While holding a protest against the recent controversy of MPs suspension from the Parliament which arose due to a ruckus created by the Opposition on the Parliament Security Breach issue, LoP Rajya Sabha & Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge says, "The PM is speaking everywhere including Varanasi but not in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha on (Parliament security breach incident). We condemn it. This is also a (breach of) privilege case due to the violation of rules. The ruling party people are disturbing the Parliament proceedings." Yesterday, it was the first time that the Parliamentary Affairs minister along with 120 MPs was standing in Rajya Sabha and the MPs were shouting slogans. This shows they don't have faith in democracy."

MPs Suspension: Rahul Gandhi films as TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee mimics RS Chairman

Amid protests outside Parliament over the MPs suspension from Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee mimicked Upper House Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar asking Congress MP Rahul Gandhi to sit on the stairs of the Parliament. Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi was seen filming a video of mockery. Hours after 33 members were suspended from Lok Sabha for "misconduct" for the remainder of Parliament winter session on Monday, 45 members from the opposition including Congress' Jairam Ramesh, Randeep Surjewala and KC Venugopal were suspended from the Rajya Sabha for the remaining period of the session which concludes on December 22. While 34 members were suspended for the remaining part of the session, the "misconduct" of 11 others was also referred to the Privileges Committee, which has been asked to give its report in three months.

MPs Suspension: VP Dhankhar disappointed as TMC MP mimics him

Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar on Tuesday took exception to Trinamool Congress' suspended MP Kalyan Banerjee mimicking him during a protest in Parliament premises saying that the mimicry is 'ridiculous' and 'unacceptable'. Kalyan Banerjee, during the protest over MPs Suspension, with other suspended MPs at Parliament's Makar Dwar, was seen mimicking the Vice President while Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was seen filming the Trinamool MP using his phone. As the House reconvened at 12 noon after being adjourned, Dhankhar took note of the incident and said, "Office of Chairman, Rajya Sabha and Office of Speaker is very different. Political parties will have their cross currents, they will have exchanges, but imagine a senior leader of your party, video graphing another member of another party. Mimicry of the Chairman, mimicry of Speaker. How ridiculous, how shameful, how unacceptable."

Parliament Winter Session: Derek O' Brien suspended by Jagdeep Dhankhar

Hon’ble Vice-President and Chairman, Rajya Sabha, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar ordered TMC MP Derek O'Brien to leave the House for “disorderly conduct” amid a ruckus by the opposition benches. He said that his head is in shame. Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar lost his cool over ‘serious misconduct’ by Derek O'Brien. Brien has been suspended for the remainder part of the Parliament Winter session. The incident happened while Opposition MP’s pressed for a discussion on the Parliament Security Breach and moved into the Well of the House. When Dhankar condemned the unruly behaviour of the Opposition MP’s, TMC MP Derek O'Brien moved into the area in front of the chair and flung his arms in the air infuriating the Rajya Sabha Chairman.
