A Dubai-Tel Aviv Flydubai flight triggers a major hijacking scare after transmitting emergency signals and the internationally recognised 7500 code for possible hijacking or unlawful interference. Flight FZ1073, carrying around 180 people, is diverted from its route towards Saudi Arabia and eventually lands safely at Tabuk Airport. The alarm prompts a major security response in Israel, with Israeli officials monitoring the situation and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu holding consultations. Israeli military officials also conduct a situational assessment as the flight’s status is closely tracked.

A 5.0-magnitude earthquake struck Istanbul, rattling buildings and sending residents running into the streets. Authorities report no immediate major damage, but inspections are underway. The quake hit near Marmaraereglisi on a faultline long seen as a threat to the city of 16 million, reviving fears after Turkey’s deadly 2023 megaquake.
