UK-based daily newspaper, The Guardian claimed, “Indian Govt ordered targeted killings in Pakistan”. However, the Ministry of External Affairs has vehemently rejected the claims made by The Guardian in its report. Denying the allegations, Ministry of External Affairs called it a “false and malicious anti-India propaganda”. After The Guardian’s reports, PM Modi’s 2019 Lok Sabha Election speech doing rounds on social media. On Mar 04, 2019, PM Modi slammed Pakistan for its continuous cross-border terrorism and said, “Hum Ghar me Gush ke Marenge”. Defence Expert KP Fabian has rejected The Guardian’s report and echoed MEA’s statement. However, he said that The Guardian’s report will benefit the ruling BJP in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.

Moscow Shooting: PM Narendra Modi “strongly” condemns terror attack in Russia

In a shocking incident, Russia witnessed a deadly terrorist attack at a jam-packed concert hall in Moscow on March 22. The heinous attack claimed the lives of at least 60 people leaving 145 injured, reported CNN. The terrorist outfit, ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack at the concert venue complex in Moscow. Meanwhile, PM Modi “strongly” condemned the Moscow shooting attack and affirmed India’s solidarity with the Russian govt. As per reports, a group of armed men stormed into the Crocus City Hall concert venue in Moscow and opened fire. Several pictures have emerged showing the Crocus City Hall concert venue on fire, with thick, black smoke filling the air. It also showed scared locals huddling, screaming and ducking behind cushioned seats as gunshots rang out in the vast hall.

Moscow Shooting: Gunmen open fire at Moscow concert hall, killing at least 40

Reuters has reported that at least 40 people were killed and more than 100 were injured when as many as 5 gunmen dressed in camouflage clothing opened fire at people at a concert hall in Moscow on March 22. Armed attackers with automatic weapons targeted Moscow’s Crocus City Hall music venue. Flames leaped into the sky and plumes of black smoke rose above the venue after the deadly attack. It was not immediately clear who the gunmen were. The shooting began days after President Vladimir Putin was re-elected and as Russia is prosecuting a war with Ukraine. NSC coordinator for strategic communication of United States of America, John Kirby has expressed concern over the Moscow shooting incident.

The 55th session of Human Rights Council was attended by External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar. He highlighted the ongoing situation in war-torn Gaza. He said that terrorism and hostage-taking are unacceptable. On top of that, Dr Jaishankar said, “I assure you of my delegation’s full support and cooperation to you, the office of the High Commissioner, and all mechanisms of the Council. India remains committed to working with Council members and observers for the promotion and protection of all human rights. The Committee on External Affairs highlighted that Pakistan’s ISI is providing a haven to terrorist outfits. ISI is Pakistan’s agency responsible for providing intelligence inputs to the country’s military. The report highlighted that terrorism in India is sponsored from across the border. The Committee on External Affairs presented their 28th report on ‘Countering Global Terrorism at Regional and International Levels’. The report emphasised an action plan and mechanism to root out terrorist networks in the neighbouring countries. For a long time, Pakistan has been accused of being a ‘terror hub’ and providing shelter to terror groups. India has strained ties with Pakistan because of its continuous infiltration attempts in Jammu & Kashmir. Post abrogation of Article 370, India-Pakistan relations have nosedived.

The Ministry of Home Affairs on Jan 29 extended the ban on the Students Islamic Movement of India. The Central Government banned SIMI for another five years as an 'unlawful association' under the UAPA. Ministry of Home Affairs took action by exercising the powers conferred by the provisions of UAPA. MHA had declared SIMI as unlawful association on Sept 27, 2001, and it later kept on extending the ban. SIMI “continuing to be involved in fomenting terrorism, disturbing peace, communal harmony in India”. Many criminal cases have been registered against SIMI and its members under various sections of IPC. Home Minister Amit Shah said that SIMI ban is part of PM Modi Government's 'zero tolerance' policy.

A day after Iran launched airstrike in Pakistan’s Balochistan, Pakistan military conducts retaliatory strikes against Iran. As per Pakistan Foreign Ministry, the armed forces conducted ‘Operation Marg Bar Sarmachar’ in Iranian territory. “This morning Pakistan undertook a series of highly coordinated and specifically targeted precision military strikes against terrorist hideouts in Siestan-o-Baluchistan province of Iran. A number of terrorists were killed during Intelligence-based operation- codenamed Marg Bar Sarmachar,” said Foreign Ministry of Pakistan. Iran recently targeted a terror outfit Jaish al-Adl’s headquarters and launched airstrikes in Pakistan’s Balochistan. Pakistan claimed that two children lost their lives, two sustained serious injuries in the airstrikes by Iran. Pakistan also strongly condemned the attacks and termed it as an “unprovoked violation” of its airspace. However, India has taken a pro-Iranian stance in the Pakistan-Iran Attack and emphasised ‘actions countries take for self-defense’.

Iran launched drone and missile attacks on terrorist group headquarters in Pakistan’s Balochistan on Jan 16. Pakistan has strongly condemned Iran’s strikes on a terrorist group in Balochistan which claimed the lives of two children. The Foreign Ministry of Pakistan has termed the Iran airstrike in Pakistan as an “unprovoked violation” of its airspace by Iran. Also, the Ministry has warned of serious consequences and said that violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty “completely unacceptable”. Soon after Iran’s military action, Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry raised the issue with the Iranian Counterpart on a diplomatic level. Islamabad highlighted that Tehran carried out the airstrike despite availability of several communication channels between the two. As per Al Arabiya News, Iran attacked the headquarters of Jaish al-Adl in Balochistan, Pakistan. Formed in 2012, this group has been designated as a “terrorist” organisation by Iran and operates in Sistan and Baluchestan province.
