Top Terrorists Killed In An Encounter With Security Forces

In a major success, security forces on May 07 neutralised two terrorists in J&K’s Kulgam in an encounter. Based on inputs of movement of suspicious individuals, armed forces activated security grid in the area. After long hours of fierce gun battle on May 06, security forces killed top ‘The Resistance Force’ (TRF) terrorists. Terrorists were gunned down days after attack on IAF convoy in Poonch which killed one personnel on May 04. Security has been heightened across the Union Territory amid LS Polls 2024 to thwart terror bids. Several encounters have broken out between security forces and terrorists since last few weeks in Kashmir. In April, a Rajouri resident was killed in a targeted attack and a few days later a VDG member was shot dead in Udhampur.

Slamming Pakistan over continuous cross-border terrorism, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on May 04 said that the neighbour will get an appropriate response adding that the Modi government will never make a compromise with the national security. Addressing an event in Bhubaneshwar, S Jaishankar said, “When it comes to national security, the Modi government will never make a compromise, it can be cross-border terrorism from Pakistan, it can be pressure on the border from China. It can be terrorism we had in the past from the Myanmar border before we did the land boundary agreement, even from Bangladesh.”

An Indian Air Force convoy was attacked by the terrorists in the Poonch district of Jammu & Kashmir on May 04. According to the officials, five personnel were injured and one of them lost life. Soon after the attack, Rashtriya Rifles unit cordoned off the area and massive search operations were carried out. Indian Air Force Convoy Attacked By Terrorist In J&K's Poonch, 5 Injured

An Indian Air Force convoy was attacked by terrorists in the Poonch district of J&K on May 04. As per the officials, 5 IAF personnel suffered injury in the attack and have been airlifted to the Command Hospital in Udhampur for further treatment.Soon after the attack, Rashtriya Rifles started cordoning off the area, search operations in Sanai area near Jarran Wali Gali (JWG) Poonch, in Surankot. Meanwhile, Defence experts called out Pak for promoting terrorist activities and disturbing peace and hampering the LS elections in J&K. Watch video.

Khalistani Hardeep Nijjar Murder Case: Canadian Police arrests 3 Indians

Canadian Police arrested and charged 3 Indians in connection to the Khalistani Hardeep Nijjar Murder Case. The arrested men are Karanpreet Singh (28), Kamalpreet Singh (22), and Karan Brar (22). The murder of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a separatist campaigning for the creation of Khalistan, an independent Sikh homeland. The investigation is going on into whether the arrested men have ties to the Indian government. Hardeep Singh Nijjar was shot dead in June last year outside a Sikh temple in Surrey, a Vancouver suburb. The trio was arrested in the city of Edmonton in Alberta, Canada on May 03 (IST). The murder case has raised concerns about potential ties between the arrested individuals and the Indian Govt. There are allegations of Indian Govt involvement in assassination plots in Canada, the US. Canadian police, in collaboration with the US law enforcement agencies, conducted the investigation and made the arrests. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities suggesting that more detentions might occur.

An extensive search operation is on in the area to flush out the hiding terrorists as LS Polls is at peak across the nation. Security forces have launched UAV drones to scan the hiding militants of freshly infiltrated terrorist groups that killed one VDG on April 28. As per police, 2 groups of 7 terrorists have been spotted in the area so far and massive search ops are on to hunt down the militants. Notably, based on inputs of the movement of suspicious individuals late evening on April 27, J&K Police activated security grid in the area. In a quick response, the area was cordoned off and massive operations were launched in Udhampur. Notably, Udhampur went on poling for the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 on April 19 in the first phase.

The Committee on External Affairs highlighted that Pakistan’s ISI is providing a haven to terrorist outfits. ISI is Pakistan’s agency responsible for providing intelligence inputs to the country’s military. The report highlighted that terrorism in India is sponsored from across the border. The Committee on External Affairs presented their 28th report on ‘Countering Global Terrorism at Regional and International Levels’. The report emphasised an action plan and mechanism to root out terrorist networks in the neighbouring countries. For a long time, Pakistan has been accused of being a ‘terror hub’ and providing shelter to terror groups. India has strained ties with Pakistan because of its continuous infiltration attempts in Jammu & Kashmir. Post abrogation of Article 370, India-Pakistan relations have nosedived.

SIMI Ban: Modi Government bans terror group Students Islamic Movement of India

The Ministry of Home Affairs on Jan 29 extended the ban on the Students Islamic Movement of India. The Central Government banned SIMI for another five years as an 'unlawful association' under the UAPA. Ministry of Home Affairs took action by exercising the powers conferred by the provisions of UAPA. MHA had declared SIMI as unlawful association on Sept 27, 2001, and it later kept on extending the ban. SIMI “continuing to be involved in fomenting terrorism, disturbing peace, communal harmony in India”. Many criminal cases have been registered against SIMI and its members under various sections of IPC. Home Minister Amit Shah said that SIMI ban is part of PM Modi Government's 'zero tolerance' policy.
