Vladimir Putin warns of World War 3 in election victory speech

Vladimir Putin won the Russian Presidential Elections with nearly 88 per cent votes. While addressing Russian citizens, the newly elected President Putin warned of World War III. Direct conflict between Russia, NATO would mean the world would be “one step away” from World War III. The Ukraine conflict has triggered deepest crisis in Moscow's relations with West since 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis. Putin has often warned of the risks of nuclear war but says he has never felt the need to use nuclear weapons in Ukraine. Elections in Russia came just over two years since the full-scale conflict broke out between Ukraine, Russia. It has been considered as one of the Europe’s deadliest conflict since the World War II. The chair of the central election commission in Moscow said Putin won a record 88 pc of the vote. He received more votes in comparison to the 2018 Elections where he bagged 76.69 per cent of the total votes counted. Vladimir Putin was first elected as the President in 2000 and re-elected in 2004, 2012, 2018 and 2024 respectively.

Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi Murder Case: Delhi Police Crime Branch detains three

In a major breakthrough in the Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi Murder Case, the Crime Branch of the Delhi Police, detained three persons. Delhi Police carried out the operation jointly with Rajasthan Police and nabbed the accused on December 10 from Chandigarh. As per the police, the main accused, Rohit Rathore and Nitin Fauji, are also among those arrested. On Dec 5, Gogamedi was murdered by two shooters, Nitin Fauji and Rohit Rathod, in the living room of his residence. One of the assailants, Naveen Shekhawat, was killed at Gogamedi's residence during the exchange of fire. Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi was the National President of the Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena. Karni Sena activists held protests after the gruesome killing of Gogamedi.

US Carney warship shoots down Houthi Rebels’ drones in Red Sea

The US warship shot down three Houthi rebels’ drones headed in the ship’s direction in the Red Sea on Dec 04. As per US Central Command, Arleigh-Burke Class destroyer USS CARNEY responded to distress calls from the ships, provided assistance. The attacks marked an escalation in a series of maritime attacks in the Mideast linked to the Israel-Hamas war. For the first time in the conflict, multiple vessels found themselves in the crosshairs of a single Houthi’s assault. US Central Command condemned the attack and called it a “direct threat to international commerce, maritime security”. While, the US believed that these attacks launched by the Houthis in the Red Sea from Yemen, were fully “enabled by Iran”. An RPF constable allegedly opened fire inside moving Jaipur Express train after it crossed Palghar Station on July 31. An RPF ASI and three other passengers were shot dead and the accused jumped from the train after committing the crime. The accused RPF constable has been arrested by the police. Delhi Floods: Delhites enjoy on flooded streets

In recent days, Delhi has battling one of the most devastating floods in decades. Parts of Delhi remain severely waterlogged and several areas of the city have submerged as the water level of River Yamuna rose significantly resulting in Delhi floods. Incessant rain and the release of water from Hathnikund Barrage led Yamuna to flow above the danger mark. While the flood situation in Delhi has shattered lives, some took it as an opportunity to enjoy the weather. Several children and adults were seen splashing in the polluted floodwater at the Ring Road area. Notably, three teenagers drowned in a ditch, filled with water amid severe waterlogging in the Mukundpur area on July 14. Taking the incident seriously, CM Arvind Kejriwal had urged people to avoid such a situation. However, Delhites continue to take dips and swim in flooded waters.
