Rajya Sabha Independent MP Kartikeya Sharma extended support to the three new Criminal Laws on December 21. The Independent MP from Haryana talked tough about the ‘colonial laws’ formed under the leadership of Lord Macaulay and lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah for making the new laws possible. On December 20th, Home Minister Amit Shah had said that the new criminal law bills are in consonance with the spirit of the Constitution and have been brought keeping in mind the well-being of the people of the country. Amit Shah said the bills will encourage the use of technology in giving justice to people. He said "mob-lynching" had been included as an offence in the bills.

Cornering Pakistan over terrorism, External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar on December 23 said that if somebody is practicing cross-border terrorism, you need to respond and impose a cost out there. Speaking at the event, EAM said, “Terrorism started at the moment of our independence when so-called raiders came from across Pakistan. What has changed in this country today, I think the Mumbai 26/11, to me, was the tipping point. A lot of people were very confused till they saw the true graphic impactful phase of terrorism of 26/11. Now, what we need to do first is we need to counter. I know that people who said, oh, we had a very smart strategy of turning the other chick. I don't think that's just the mood of the nation. I don't think it makes sense. I don't think it makes strategic sense. If somebody is practicing cross-border terrorism you must respond, you must extract, impose a cost out there.”
