On 26th of February, PM Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone and dedicated to the nation over 2000 railway infrastructure projects worth around Rs 41,000 crores. On this occasion, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the projects. He also vowed to transform the railway industry. Aswini Vaishnaw informed that soon the railway will be exporting India’s Vande Bharat Express for which the process has been started. The Ministry of Railways is readying a roadmap to start the export of Vande Bharat Train by 2025-26. They are also working to increase production of Bande Bharat trains..

Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually flagged off nine Vande Bharat Express trains on September 24. The increase in the Vande Bharat fleet will help improve connectivity across 11 states. These states are Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Bihar, West Bengal, Kerala, Odisha, Jharkhand and Gujarat.

On September 16, General Manager of Integral Coach Factory, B G Mallya, addressed mediapersons and spoke about major projects, including Vande Bharat Express and Vande Metro. BG Mallya also informed that both projects are scheduled to be completed in this financial year. While addressing the media, B G Mallya, General Manager of Integral Coach Factory, said, "We'll be launching the sleeper version of the Vande within this financial year. We'll also be launching the Vande Metro this financial year. We'll be launching this train for non-air conditioned passengers, which is called a non-AC push-pull train and will have 22 coaches and a locomotive. And that launch is going to happen before October 31st."

An RPF constable allegedly opened fire inside moving Jaipur Express train after it crossed Palghar Station on July 31. An RPF ASI and three other passengers were shot dead and the accused jumped from the train after committing the crime. The accused RPF constable has been arrested by the police. The firing incident happened inside the Jaipur Express Train (12956). The reason for the firing is yet to be ascertained and an investigation into the matter is underway.

Heavy rainfall was witnessed in several areas of Mumbai on July 19. The India Metrological Department has issued a Red Alert for Palghar and Raigad districts. Also, an Orange Alert has been issued for Thane, Mumbai and Ratnagiri. 7/11 Mumbai train blasts
On July 11, 2006, a string of powerful bombs ripped through Mumbai's commuter trains system in the evening rush hour, killing nearly 200 people and bringing India's financial capital to a standstill. Seven blasts were triggered in the span of 11 minutes in the first-class suburban train compartments. The first bomb went off shortly after 6.20 pm in the Western Railway suburban train running from Churchgate to Borivali. The bomb exploded when the train was between Khar and Santacruz stations. Another bomb exploded at the same time in a local between Bandra and Khar Road. Most of the commuters in these trains were executives, businessmen, employees of government and private establishments and college students. Five more explosions occurred in Jogeshwari, Mahim Junction, Mira Road-Bhayander, Matunga-Mahim Junction and Borivali. Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off five Vande Bharat Express trains from Rani Kamlapati Railway Station in Bhopal, MP on June 27. The Prime Minister was accompanied by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. These trains will improve connectivity in Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Goa, Bihar and Jharkhand. Whit this, the total number of Vande Bharat trains in India reached 23.
