Saurabh Vashisht, one of the Ex-Indian Navy veterans who returned home, expressed his feelings. His family was overwhelmed on his return and thanked PM Modi, EAM Jaishankar for their intervention. Qatar Death Penalty: Indian Navy Veteran chant 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai' after return

Setting foot to their homeland after several agonizing months of captivity in Qatar, seven of the eight Indian navy veterans who were sentenced to death on 'espionage' charges, heaped praise on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying they wouldn't have been freed had it for the sustained diplomatic efforts at his behest to secure their release. Relieved to finally walk free, the seven former Navy officers raised chants of 'Bharat Mata ki Jai' after arriving at the Delhi airport in the early hours of Feb 12. One of the Navy veterans who returned from Qatar after being freed from the Qatar Death Penalty said, "We waited almost for 18 months to be back in India. We are extremely grateful to the PM. It wouldn't have been possible without his intervention and his equation with Qatar. We are grateful to the Government of India from the bottom of our hearts for every effort that has been made and this day won't have been possible without those efforts."

14 killed after boat capsizes in Vadodara's Lake, govt forms high-level enquiry

A boat carrying children capsized in Vadodara's Harni Motnath Lake on January 18. 12 school children and two teachers were killed due to a boat capsizing incident. School children were on a picnic in Vadodara's Harni Motnath Lake when the mishap took place. The NDRF team is carrying out the rescue operations and rescued 20 people so far. Prime Minister Modi condoled the loss of lives due to a boat capsizing in Vadodara. He also announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each to the next of kin of the deceased. Meanwhile, Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel reached the incident site and inspected the rescue operations. The CM has ordered a strong inquiry and relevant sections of IPC have been invoked against accused. FIR has been registered and 9 teams have been formed to arrest the accused. CM Bhupendra Patel also visited the postmortem centre located at SSG Hospital in Vadodara. He also met the families of the children who lost their lives in the boat capsize incident. State Govt has announced Rs 4 Lakhs each for the next of kin of deceased, Rs 50,000 for injured.
