Former Tamil Nadu BJP chief K Annamalai criticised the extensive security arrangements planned for the NEET UG retest on June 21. Once considered the BJP's biggest face in Tamil Nadu, Annamalai is now taking on his former party, questioning what he calls the "militarisation" of the examination process. His criticism comes as authorities deploy unprecedented measures including Army helicopter transport, Air Force supervision, CRPF and CISF security, biometric verification and AI facial recognition. The BJP has strongly defended the arrangements, arguing they are necessary after the NEET paper leak controversy that forced the original examination to be cancelled.
