Sandeshkhali Violence: Fact-finding members arrested en route to village

Six members of an independent fact-finding committee, on their way to Sandeshkhali, were arrested at Bhojerhat in West Bengal’s South 24 Parganas district on February 25. Following the arrest, the committee members were brought to PHQ Lal Bazaar Kolkata. The Fact-Finding Committee members were stopped by police at Bhojerhat, South 24 Parganas, while they were proceeding to the trouble-torn Sandeshkhali area in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas to investigate alleged incidents of atrocities and Sandeshkhali violence on women there. Saikat Ghosh, Deputy Commissioner, Bhangar Division, Kolkata Police, said while speaking to the media, “We were requesting them to not cross from here, but they were trying to break the police barricade unlawfully. So, we had to arrest them under Preventive Sections. If there is information of a ‘breach of peace’, police can arrest them under preventive sections.” Narasimha Reddy, Former Chief Justice of Patna High Court, said, “We sat here but it seems they've a problem with this also. Now, we will seek the appointment of the governor and explain the situation to him. Later we'll talk about this to the Ministry of Home Affairs in Delhi...”

Hanuman Flag Row: Congress vs BJP faceoff over the removal of Hanuman flag

A controversy has erupted in Karnataka’s Mandya district after the removal of Lord Hanuman flag by district administration. Hindu activists, BJP, JD(S) workers held massive protests in Keragodu village after the Hanuman flag was allegedly removed. Hanuman flag hoisted by Gram Panchayat Board on a 108-foot flagpole was brought down by district administration on Jan 28. Congress claimed that instead of Lord Hanuman’s flag, the national flag should have been hoisted. BJP-JD(S) held massive protests in the village and held a ‘padayatra’ from Keragodu village to District Collector’s office. Meanwhile, security has been heightened and Section 144 has been imposed in the village to maintain law and order after the Hanuman Flag Row. In Bengaluru, BJP workers were detained by Karnataka Police as they were protesting against the administration's actions. Karnataka’s Deputy Chief Minister, DK Shivakumar alleged BJP-JD(S) of doing politics over the incident.

Tiger 3: Actor Emraan Hashmi opened up about playing an antagonist in the movie 'Tiger 3', and what made him say "yes" to this role. Emraan mentioed that "After the lockdown, I got a call from the casting director Shanoo Sharma, 'Would you like to have a coffee with Maneesh Sharma'. I reached there, and he asked, we are looking for casting an antagonist for 'Tiger 3'." He added that it was not initially easy for him to accept the role as there is a preconceived notion about an antagonist. Emraan is known for playing romantic roles and playing this character gave him an opportunity to show a different side of himself as an actor. When asked about the kind of roles he is looking at and the reason for being selective in choosing his projects, he said, "I have been getting similar kinds of roles. But after a time there is a saturation point and you feel like changing your on-screen image. That is what happened with me and thus I became selective when it comes to choosing projects."
