A massive explosion has rocked the Amur Gas Chemical Complex in Russia’s Far East, leaving at least 7 people dead and more than 120 injured. The Russian-Chinese joint venture had been under construction for seven years and was designed to become one of the world’s largest polymer production facilities. The blast reportedly struck a methanol processing unit during the facility’s final pre-startup stage. Officials say the main equipment was not damaged and there is currently no threat to nearby residents.

A drone attack has set Russia’s Afipsky oil refinery in the southern Krasnodar region on fire. Regional authorities said falling drone debris killed two people and injured two others near the Afipsky railway station. Ukraine has increasingly targeted Russian oil refineries and energy infrastructure in an effort to disrupt Moscow’s war effort and reduce oil revenues. The latest attack comes as drone warfare intensifies between Russia and Ukraine.
