Days after, MV Chem Pluto, a merchant ship, was hit by a suspected drone strike in the Arabian Sea near Gujarat coast on Dec 23, India has issued a stern warning to the attackers of the merchant vessels near the Indian sea borders. Defence Minister, in an event in Mumbai, openly said about the India drone strike that “they will hunt down the culprits from the bottom of the sea.” Moreover, Indian Navy also assured that they will take ‘robust action’ and will intensify monitoring. Notably, 20 Indians were onboard the ship during the incident that took place 217 nautical miles off the Porbandar coast. While, no one has claimed responsibility for the drone strike in the Arabian sea, US Central Command claimed that the drone attack was fired by Iran-backed Houthi militants. Houthi forces in Yemen have been targeting commercial ships in the Red Sea, claiming the attacks as revenge against Israel. However, the Indian Navy on Dec 24 clarified that it wasn’t an India-flagged vessel, as claimed by the US earlier. India, a strong advocate for the free movement of commercial shipping, is monitoring these attacks.

The Israeli Defence Minister has vowed to wipe Hamas militant group “off the face of the earth”. The Israel Prime Minister formed an emergency government on October 11 to direct war against Hamas. Israel Defence Forces reportedly hit hundreds of hideouts of the Hamas terror group across Gaza. Israeli fighter jets are pounding the Gaza Strip everyday with continuous air strikes to avenge the death of its citizens. Times of Israel reported that IDF bombed the house of the father of Mohammed Deif, the head of Hamas' military wing. The IDF struck an important Hamas operational, political and military centre in Gaza—the Islamic University. Taking to ‘X’, IDF said, “Hamas transformed a university into a training camp for weapons development, military intelligence”. The Islamist Hamas gunmen invaded Israel from the Gaza Strip on October 07 in a surprise assault that killed at least 1,200 people.

In retaliation to the Hamas attack, Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed vengeance and said that Israel will turn Hamas into “rubble”. Giving a warning to the residents of Gaza, Netanyahu said that they would operate forcefully everywhere. The Islamist group Hamas took Israel by surprise earlier on October 07 with one of the biggest attacks in decades. Israel witnessed a sudden assault by gunmen who crossed into Israeli villages, bringing hostages back into the Gaza Strip. According to Reuters, at least 250 Israelis were killed and 900 were injured. Over 230 Gazans were also killed when Israel responded with retaliatory strikes. Israel responded with massive air strikes deep inside the coastal enclave, killing scores and wounding hundreds. The Western Nations have extended support to Israel including the US, the UK, France.
