Raids at different premises allegedly linked to NewsClick are underway at over 30 locations by Delhi Police. NewsClick journalists were seen with Delhi Police Special Cell officials. However, no arrest has been made as of now. Documents and electronics belonging to the persons associated with NewsClick were seized. Delhi High Court, on Aug 22, issued notice to NewsClick's Editor-in-Chief Prabir Purkayastha on a plea filed by Delhi Police's EOW. According to the FIR, a case was registered under UAPA and other IPC sections and an investigation was launched. During the probe, the sleuths gathered evidence indicating criminal acts. FIR states that accused persons, in conspiracy with their accomplices based abroad, devised a deceitful scheme to obtain, and receive funds. As per the same FIR, these funds were used to undertake activities as per instructions received from their foreign-based benefactors. Earlier, ED also moved the Delhi High Court against NewsClick and its editor-in-chief through a fresh application. ED’s application stated that it was a case of grave criminal conspiracy for paid news. Mumbai Police officials reached activist Teesta Setalvad's residence in the same matter. Congress MP Shashi Tharoor reacts to BJP's 'Ghamandi' alliance remark

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor reacts to BJP's 'Ghamandi' alliance remark

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor on September 16 reacted to Union Minister Pralhad Joshi’s statement that the opposition alliance is 'Ghamandi' alliance. Tharoor said, "The arrogance of power has been very visible. So to apply 'Ghamand' to the opposition is a bit unnecessary and a bit futile because those who are arrogant are the ones who are in power. That's what we're seeing every day. I think that clearly, the name we have given the alliance has got under their skin and that's why they are reacting in this exaggerated way and even trying to privilege the name Bharat which is also both our names in the Constitution of India. So what is the problem with using either of them?On the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting in Hyderabad, Tharoor said, "I think that there are two messages here. One is of course the new team, new start... & the second is of course the elections in Telangana. That being in Hyderabad is a signal that the entire Congress party is taking this election very seriously. So both the messages I think are there. We have a national vision and we also have to try and help our colleagues in the state to do well."
