Days after the flooding of the Mumbai Metro Line 3 at the Acharya Atre Chowk station, MMRC has issued a clarification. Just 16 days after opening to the public, the Acharya Atre Chowk station saw significant waterlogging on May 26th. In widely shared social media videos, the metro station was seen flooded prompting authorities to halt train services between Worli and Acharya Atre Chowk as a safety measure. Social media erupted with criticism, questioning the resilience of the newly launched metro line and is it is safe enough to travel during rain. MMRC Managing Director Ashwini Bhide has issued a clarification on the same.

Bringing much-needed relief to Mumbai’s traffic congestion, the newly inaugurated Mumbai Metro Aqua Line 3 from BKC to Acharya Atre Chowk, Worli is now operational. On January 26, 2025, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated a new bridge that connects the Worli-Bandra Sea Bridge, as part of the Dharamveer, Swarajyarakshak Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Mumbai Coastal Road Project. The event was held near Bindumadhav Thackeray Chowk at Worli Sea Face in Mumbai and was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Minister Adv. Ashish Shelar, and Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha. The newly opened bridge aims to improve connectivity in the city. Starting from January 27, 2025, the road will be open for traffic daily from 7 am to midnight. This infrastructure development is expected to ease traffic congestion and provide better access to key areas along Mumbai’s coastline.
