The BrahMos is a supersonic cruise missile developed by BrahMos Aerospace, capable of speeds up to Mach 3 with a range of 290 km. It uses a two-stage propulsion system, stealth technology, and advanced guidance for precision strikes under the "fire and forget" principle. With a 200–300 kg warhead and low-altitude strike capability, it is nearly impossible to intercept. BrahMos has been inducted by the Indian Navy, Army, and Air Force, including deployment on Sukhoi Su-30MKI jets.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath today confirmed that the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile was used in Operation Sindoor. He made the announcement while inaugurating a new BrahMos missile production facility in Lucknow. The Indian Armed Forces had launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, 2025, targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (POJK). The precision strikes were carried out on nine locations—four in Pakistan and five in POJK—between 1:05 AM and 1:30 AM.
