Former Mumbai and India batsman Sanjay Manjrekar this morning recalled his late father Vijay, who also represented the country with distinction, on his 86th birth anniversary.
Cricketopia, a social media platform promoting special features from the sport, posted this message on Twitter today: "Birth of a Master Technician Today in 1931, Vijay Manjrekar was born, 55 Tests (3208 Runs &amp; 7 100s) &amp; his son Sanjay also played for India."
Sanjay, 52, a TV commentator and pundit of the game, retweeted the message and added: "Cricket was his life. But he kept telling me not to do the same. Play it as a game, nothing more."
Manjrekar Sr also played 198 first-class games scoring 38 hundreds at an average of 49.9 runs. He however, died early, at the age of 52, in 1983 -- four years before his son made his Test debut for India.
