PIC/AFP &lsquo;Headlines Today&rsquo; said that Tendulkar spoke to chairman of selectors Sandeep Patil and the batting genius, who was short of runs in the four-Test series against England which concluded in Nagpur this week, expressed his desire to play in the ODI series against Pakistan and England. Tendulkar was not part of the last ODI series India figured in &mdash; against Sri Lanka in the Emerald Isles in July-August. He played the earlier tournament (Asia Cup) in Bangladesh against whom he scored his landmark 100th international hundred. In fact, his last ODI was against Pakistan in the same tournament. The channel reported that Tendulkar is keen on playing the ODIs to regain form before the Test series against Australia in February-March next year. Meanwhile, former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly told the channel: &ldquo;I am not surprised with that. It&rsquo;s good for him. If he needs to keep playing at the end of the Australia series, he needs to be in form and ODI are the best way for him to get in-form. If he needs to continue, he needs to play all formats of the game and not have a start-stop career.&rdquo; Meanwhile, a source in Kolkata told MiD DAY that Tendulkar may not play the series against Pakistan. Speaking on Tendulkar&rsquo;s critics, Ganguly said, &ldquo;critics don&rsquo;t matter. It&rsquo;s what selectors think and BCCI think. Sachin is too big for everyone. What he has achieved is beyond everybody&rsquo;s reach. He has the ability and the right to call the shots. I don&rsquo;t think any selector will ever ask him to retire or drop him. Don&rsquo;t know if it&rsquo;s right or wrong.
